Gitte Jarsbo
Artist
Abstract and modernist features are common, in several of the works matte tones, a color scheme that was used in the 50s and 60s. The organic intertwined figures with clear black contours are reminiscent of mid-century modern abstract art, inspired by artists such as Miro and Kadinsky. Style-conscious and at the same time spontaneous.
Simultaneously cubist and modernist inspiration, especially with the geometric divisions, overlapping profiles and use of primary colors. Modern paintings in a retro style echo of Picasso.
Gitte Jarsbos interest in art and science is great, and this connection or difference is expressed in many of my paintings as a spontaneous figurative working process that often reflects evolution not consciously, but the connection between man and nature is almost always present.
With a love for painting with oil paint and the variation that lies within, it provides a challenge that is exciting to work with.
The figurative and abstract are combined into a surrealistic overall perception where evolution is the unconscious inspiration that ends up becoming the main theme in my paintings.
Irony and humor – that is, positive art – are generally characteristic of my works, which essentially have a happy and life-affirming message.
Gitte Jarsbo have participated and actively participate in various events and exhibitions, have previously exhibited at Galleri Art Expo, Aarhus and actively in my own gallery Jarsbo Aarhus since 2003 and Jarsbo Contemporary Art, Aalborg from 2014-2024.
