Louise Stubberup
Artist
Louise Stubberup is a Danish visual artist and sculptor who, from her studio and gallery in Aalborg, insists on creating art that is not only to be seen – but felt. She works uncompromisingly with concrete and black paint as her primary materials, chosen for their raw and honest heaviness.
Her works balance harsh brutality with sensitive depth and revolve around the human: the vulnerable, the equipped and the sensual. By painting exclusively with her hands and in black, she creates paintings, often of faces, that function as emotional reflections of inner states. The black color is not absence, but a charged energy, where every movement stands out nakedly and honestly.
Stubberup’s art is raw, expressive and immediate – without filter, without excuses. Her intuitive works are tools to shout and whisper at the same time: to create a wake-up call, but also a space for silence, reflection and contemplation.
Her practice is both a mirror and an invitation – to look the inner chaos in the eye and find the beauty in the brutal and imperfect. She believes that this is precisely where the beauty must be found, both in ourselves and in art.
